My 1961 Imperial

This project involves updating a 1961 Imperial into what I think Chrysler may have created as a factory custom, had they had any interest in doing so in the Exner days.
These line drawings show the plan for this car:
This is the original (drawing is from the Imperial Club website)...
This is what I have in mind: Sixties-type touches...

These photos show the work thus far:

....................
Over the last few years I put a substantial amount of thought into the design. When I started dismantling the car (in January 2011) I was fairly sure I wanted the outcome to look like this:
Side mounts, extended hoodline, padded top...

However, after imagining getting out of my driveway and into traffic with that hood I started considering other designs, such as:

A simple shorty Imp...
Everyone needs a pickup, right...
A pickup with a little different roof...
Or how about a flat-bed for real utility...
And what could be finer than a finned rat-type...

Other Car Projecting

1977 New Yorker Brougham

Now that I have a classic "almost Imperial," I suppose it should be made useful...

New Yorker pickup...?

PT Cruiser

Since I have a PT Cruiser, I had to think about it a bit, too. I'm not actively planning doing anything with it for now, though...

The long...

And the short of it...

And a touch of trunk...

Intrepid Econo-thing

The thought was a plug-in hybrid
using only one bank of the 2.7 engine
to get 1.3 liters of economy...

Cherokee People

And a flatbed Cherokee for tasks around the plantation...

A small, go-anywhere flatbed...
